West Ham Tipped To ‘Return’ With New Bid For 67M Rated South American Marksman

West Ham could “return” with another offer for Benfica striker Darwin Nunez this summer, according to the Evening Standard.

The newspaper claims that the Hammers did have a £50m bid knocked back for the Uruguayan international in the January transfer window, but the club are still looking to sign a new forward.

Snapping up Nunez would be a massive coup for manager David Moyes but the competition for his signature has increased significantly in recent weeks. The likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle have all been mentioned as potential suitors, with the player’s excellent form having attracted a lot of attention.

Benfica have also reacted by reportedly increasing their asking price, with it now being said that the Portuguese club will demand at least €80m (£67m) for the 22-year-old.

Whether such an valuation would put off West Ham from making another bid, we shall have to wait and see.
