West Ham Suffer Serious Injury Setback With £17.5m Summer Signing Out For Six Months

West Ham winger Andriy Yarmolenko is set to be sidelined for up to six months after suffering an Achilles tendon injury against Tottenham on Saturday.

The Ukrainian international had to be stretchered off five minutes before the interval after landing awkwardly on his right foot.

Yarmolenko has suffered a similar injury before whilst at Borussia Dortmund, prior to his £17.5m move to the London Stadium in the summer.

The 28-year-old will begin his rehabilitation after surgery next week but it is touch and go whether he’ll be back before the end of the season with the player only expected to be back by the end of April at the earliest.

The Hammers have suffered serious injuries to other attacking players already this season with Manuel Lanzini having been ruled out with a knee ligament injury before the start of the campaign.

Yarmolenko’s injury also comes off the back of news that Jack Wilshere will be sidelined until November with an ankle injury.
