West Ham Submit ‘Formal Offer’ For £12m Rated Mexican Stopper But Face Challenge From Wolves

West Ham have made a “formal offer” for America centre-back Edson Alvarez, according to FutbolTotal.

The Mexican website reports that the Hammers have made an approach for the defender, with Ajax and Wolves also in the mix for the player.

America are said to be weighing up proposals for Alvarez, with the club reportedly valuing the Mexican international at around $15m (£12m).

The centre-half is said to be leaning towards a move to England at the moment, with the player keen on challenging himself in the Premier League.

However, Wolves are believed to be favourites for Alvarez, but much may depend on who makes the highest bid to his club.

The 21-year-old is currently away with Mexico at the Gold Cup, having played as a holding midfielder with his team progressing to the final.

A decision on Alvarez’s future is likely to be made after Mexico face the United States on Sunday.
