West Ham Star’s £4.5m Move Set To Fall Through After Disagreement Over Contract Clause

West Ham defender Reece Oxford is now unlikely to move to Augsburg, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The 21-year-old had agreed personal terms with the Bundesliga club, but the player has asked for a relegation release clause.

Augsburg have refused to agree to the contract demand, and it means the switch is now likely to fall through.

The collapse of the transfer could hit the Hammers in the pocket too, as Oxford’s other suitors are not willing to pay the £4.5m that the German club had agreed.

Middlesbrough and West Brom are the two teams most interested in the centre-back but neither is expected to offer more than £2m.

Oxford spent the second half of last season out on loan at Augsburg, making nine appearances in all competitions.

Considering his performances whilst with the club, it was a surprise that they wanted him on a permanent basis. He was sent off in a 5-1 defeat to Freiburg and played the full 90 minutes in the 8-1 loss to Wolfsburg on the final day of the season.
