West Ham Signing Confirms He Did Have Interest From Other “Premier League Teams” Before 13M Switch

West Ham fullback Emerson Palmieri has revealed that he did have to make a decision between joining the Hammers and other Premier League clubs in the summer.

The Italian international moved from Chelsea for £13m in August and, while he did deny that he had offers from back home in Italy, he confirmed there was more than one option in England:

“I’ve never received any offers from Serie A. Only Premier League teams were interested in me. I chose West Ham. And I am very happy.”

Emerson was reportedly the subject of interest from Nottingham Forest but, from the sound of things, he turned down the proposal from the Midlands club in order to stay in London.

The defender has been in and out of the eleven since joining West Ham. Manager David Moyes has started him in all five Europa Conference League matches so far but the 28-year-old has found game time in the Premier League harder to come by.

Emerson has only been on the losing side once for the Irons when he has played from the start, and that was the 2-1 defeat against his former club Chelsea back in September.
