West Ham ‘Showing Interest’ In 17M Rated Euro 2020 Star Along With Two Other Teams

West Ham are “showing interest” in Fenerbahce defender Attila Szalai, according to Sky Sports News.

The TV channel claims that the centre-back, who played in all of Hungary’s games at Euro 2020, is also being pursued by the likes of Newcastle and AC Milan.

Szalai only moved to Fenerbahce just over twelve months ago, and he still has three and a half years remaining on his contract at the Turkish club.

It is believed that it could cost around €20m (£17m) for the Hammers to secure the 23-year-old’s services during the January transfer window.

Manager David Moyes is reportedly in the market for a new centre-half, with the likes of Liverpool’s Nat Phillips, Burnley’s James Tarkowski, Bayern Munich’s Niklas Sule, Borussia Monchengladbach’s Mattias Ginter and Torino’s Gleison Bremer all considered as potential targets.

Szalai has actually been linked with Chelsea in the Turkish media in recent months, but the Hungarian international would arrive in the Premier League as an unknown quantity if he were to be snapped up by the Irons.
