Arsenal utility player Ainsley Maitland-Niles will only leave the Gunners for Roma during the January transfer window, according to The Athletic‘s David Ornstein.
The very reliable journalist claims that the 24-year-old will stay at the Emirates this month unless a move to the Giallorossi can be agreed:
🚨 Roma have now submitted bid to sign Ainsley Maitland-Niles on loan with buy option in summer. Arsenal yet to reply. #ASRoma want him asap or will pursue other targets. 24yo only interested in Roma or minded to stay at #AFC (contract 2023) @TheAthleticUK https://t.co/hBks95Wrv0

It was reported by insider source ExWHUemployee last week that West Ham were weighing up a potential loan move for Maitland-Niles but, as things stand, it looks as though the player will not be open to making the switch to the London Stadium.
The England international would have been a useful addition to the squad as he can play both in midfield or in either fullback positions; areas where manager David Moyes could do with some cover.
The Hammers are now likely to move on to other targets as they look to bring in reinforcements for the second half of the season.
