West Ham Set To Lose Out To Chelsea Despite Making ‘Extreme’ Proposal For Portuguese Starlet

Chelsea are set to beat West Ham to the signing of Estoril winger Chiquinho, according to Record. The Portuguese tabloid claims that despite the Hammers making an “extreme” proposal to persuade the 20-year-old into making the move to the London Stadium, the player has decided their London rivals are the more attractive option.

The Portuguese Under 20 international only moved from Sporting Lisbon in the summer, and he had begun the season in Estoril’s Under 23 side.

However, before the suspension of football matches, Chiquinho had begun to feature for the first team, having made eight senior appearances for Estoril in the Portuguese second division.

His best performance came in only his fourth professional game, scoring and providing an assist in a 4-1 win over Casa Pia back in February.

West Ham will be disappointed to miss out on Chiquinho, who is widely regarded as one of the most promising young players currently playing in Portugal.
