West Ham could open negotiations with Villarreal about signing Arnaut Danjuma as early as this week, according to reports in the Spanish media.

It has been claimed that the Dutch international has a €45m (£39m) release clause but it appears that Villarreal could be prepared to sell the winger for below that figure.

A fee of €35m (£30m), plus add-ons, would reportedly be enough to start negotiations and Danjuma has already communicated through his agent that he is prepared to move if a deal can be agreed.

Other Premier League teams, including Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal have also been credited with an interest in the 25-year-old but, from the looks of things, it appears the Hammers do have a free run to sign the player.

While a number of sources have confirmed West Ham are keen on Damjuma, it is still not certain whether he is the club’s number one target to strengthen the forward line.
