West Ham Set For Disappointment With PL Rival Now “Winning The Race” To Sign 12M Belgian Star

Aston Villa are “winning the race” to sign West Ham target Leander Dendoncker, according to the Daily Telegraph‘s Mike McGrath.

The reliable journalist claims the Hammers now trailing in the battle to secure the Wolves midfielder’s signature with the Villans in talks to snap up the Wolves midfielder for around £12m:

Villa are believed to be keen on snapping up Dendoncker as they are anticipating losing Douglas Luiz, with the Brazilian being heavily linked with a switch to Arsenal.

In terms of where this leaves West Ham in their search for a holding midfield player, it is anyone’s guess. The club were linked with Ainsley Maitland-Niles but he is set to join Southampton, while Chelsea are unlikely to loan out Conor Gallagher.

The Irons are expected to be pretty busy on deadline day, with Manager David Moyes said to be looking at signing centre-back Jan Bednarek as a replacement for Craig Dawson.
