West Ham have made a proposal to sign Inter Milan striker Gabriel Barbosa, according to Sport Mediaset.

The Italian news outlet reports that the Brazilian international, commonly known as “Gabigol,” will be allowed to leave the San Siro in January.

The forward is currently on loan at Santos, but he will be returning to Italy at the end of the year.

During his time back in his native Brazil, Gabigol has been in impressive form, scoring 16 goals in 31 league appearances.

However, Inter won’t allow the 22-year-old to leave cheaply. Despite only playing ten matches for the Serie A side, they want to recoup as much of the €29.5m they paid for the player as possible.

Earlier this month, it was suggested that the Italian club may consider offers of around €20m (£17.5m), but whether the Hammers would do a deal for such an amount, it remains to be seen.

The likes of Everton, Atletico Madrid and Sporting Lisbon have also been linked with Gabigol in recent weeks, while Manchester United and Manchester City have reportedly shown interest in the past.
