West Ham ‘Ready to Pay’ £10.7m To Sign Chilean International Midfielder

West Ham are “ready to pay” €12m (£10.7m) to sign Fiorentina midfielder Erick Pulgar, according to the Corriere Dello Sport.

The Italian newspaper claims both the Hammers and Sevilla are keen on the Chilean international but with the player having only arrived from Bologna for €12m last summer, the Viola are unlikely to accept the proposed offer from the London club.

Fiorentina won’t be getting the full amount from any sale with Bologna having included a sell-on clause for Pulgar, so West Ham would probably have to up their bid in order to get their man.

Whether the Irons are likely to invest such a sum in another midfielder, it is debatable. David Moyes’ side are expected to pay £13.7m to make Tomas Soucek’s loan from Slavia Prague permanent at the end of the season.

Carlos Sanchez’s departure may mean there could be space in the squad for Pulgar but there are question marks over whether West Ham could afford another significant outlay after Soucek.
