West Ham Put ‘Offer On The Table’ For Pape Cheikh Diop

West Ham are looking to sign Lyon midfielder Pape Cheikh Diop on loan before the transfer window shuts, according to AS. The Spanish publication claims the Hammers have already placed “an offer on the table” for the 22-year-old.

Diop is currently already on loan at Celta Vigo but he has made just five league starts this season, and West Ham are hoping that Lyon will recall him and allow the player to make the move to London instead.

The Irons’ proposal for the Senegalese born Spanish Under 21 international reportedly includes a purchase clause which can be triggered at the end of the season.

One complication is that Celta may well look to play Diop more often now that Stanislav Lobotka has been sold to Napoli, but the decision lies with Lyon.

The defensive midfielder actually came through Celta’s academy but moved to France two and a half years ago before being loaned back to Spain in the summer.
