West Ham Preparing To Make Second Bid For South American Target Man

West Ham are set to offer £14m for West Brom striker Salomon Rondon, according to the Football Insider.

The website reports that the Hammers are looking to take advantage of the fact that Wolves have withdrawn from the race for the Venezuelan international.

Newcastle are now also unlikely to make a bid for Rondon following manager Rafa Benitez’s departure to Chinese club Dalian Yifang.

It means West Ham will once again offer below the 30-year-old’s £16.5m release clause.

A previous report had revealed that the Irons’ first offer of £10m, plus Jordan Hugill and Sam Byram, was rejected by the Baggies.

Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini is looking to strengthen his forward line following the departures of Andy Carroll and Lucas Perez this summer.

The squad currently possesses just two out-and-out strikers in Javier Hernandez and Marko Arnautovic, with the pair also looking likely to leave the London Stadium if acceptable bids are made.
