“West Ham Or Chelsea…” Italian Star Reveals Desire For Premier League Move

FC Basel fullback Riccardo Calafiori has expressed an interest in joining West Ham at some point in the future.

The Italian Under 21 international only made the switch to Switzerland from Roma in the summer but, when asked about his potential career path, he replied:

“I have two images: going back to Italy, perhaps in Rome, or my dream would be to play in the Premier League. I really like West Ham or Chelsea.”

Calafiori plays mostly as a left-back or a wingback so there is a possibility that he may be considered as a potential long-term replacement for Aaron Cresswell if he proves himself at Basel.

The Hammers defender turns 33 later this month and, with his contract expiring at the end of the season, there are doubts over his future at the club.

Manager David Moyes probably has more experienced players than Calafiori in mind, though, if he is seeking a possible successor but, it is still interesting that the Italian defender namechecked West Ham without being prompted. If he has some sort of affiliation with the Irons, it is something that the club should look further into.
