Fiorentina will sell centre-back Nikola Milenkovic next summer if the Serbian international does not sign a new contract by Christmas, according to reports in Italy.
West Ham reportedly made a bid of £20m for the 23-year-old in September but, at the time, the Serie A side were asking for almost double that amount.
However, with Milenkovic closing in on the final year of his contract, it is believed they could ask for even less than what the Hammers offered for the Serbian before the transfer window closed.
Reports in recent weeks have suggested that Fiorentina are now after just €25m (£22.4m), with Manchester United and Tottenham having also joined the race for the player.
But that figure could be reduced further with it being claimed that they may look to meet halfway after AC Milan offered only €15m (£13.4m) for Milenkovic. It means €20m (£18m) could well be enough for the Hammers and others to secure the defender’s signature.
