West Ham On Alert As Polish Midfield Maestro Becomes Available For LESS Than The 35M They Offered Last Year

West Ham could now sign Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski for a fee lower than the €40m (£35m) they tabled last summer, according to reports in Italy.

The Hammers’ bid was rejected by Napoli at the time, and he has gone on to play a key role for the Italian side, who are runaway leaders in Serie A.

However, Zielinski has yet to agree a contract extension and, with his current deal set to expire at the end of next season, Napoli are considering selling the player before he can leave for nothing.

Whether David Moyes’ side would still be in contention to recruit the 28-year-old, it is debatable. The midfielder is likely to be in huge demand when the transfer window opens, especially if Napoli continue their run in the Champions League.

They have qualified for the quarter-finals and they are favourites to make it through to the semis after having been drawn against AC Milan.
