West Ham Offered France International In £36m Plus Player Swap Deal

West Ham have been offered the chance to sign Marseille forward Florian Thauvin, according to reports in the UK.

The Frenchman could be available for €40m (£36m) with the Ligue One side also keen to include Javier Hernandez as part of the deal.

Marseille are looking to offload some of their highest earners in order to balance the books and appear to be ready to sell one of their best players in Thauvin.

The 26-year-old had a spell at Newcastle back in 2015 but lasted just six months before returning to France on loan.

Thauvin has excelled back in his homeland, though, scoring 18 goals and providing nine assists in 37 appearances last campaign.

West Ham are likely to be looking for a striker after failing in their pursuit for Celta’s Maxi Gomez but Thauvin is not an out-and-out forward.

The France international generally plays from the right-hand side; an area where manager Manuel Pellegrini has a number of options already.
