Moyes Makes Premier League Title Claim As He Looks Ahead To West Ham’s Clash Against Liverpool

West Ham manager David Moyes says that the Hammers will be facing a contender for the Premier League title in Liverpool this weekend.

The Reds have dropped just two points in their opening five games heading into Sunday’s fixture at Anfield, and Moyes believes they are likely to be right at the top of the table by the end of the season:

“They can challenge for the title. People say we’ve made a good start to the season but Liverpool definitely have as well. They’ve won all their games and they’re introducing new players into their squad.”

“From a distance, they look like they’re getting back into their best form. I finished above Liverpool a couple of times as Everton manager and got a few good draws too.”

West Ham will provide a stern test for their opponents

Many feel that Manchester City and Arsenal will be the two clubs fighting it out for the title like last campaign, but Moyes seems to believe that Liverpool will also be in the mix.

As we saw last weekend, though, this Hammers team can go toe-to-toe with the very best in the league. They were 1-0 up against City before being pegged back.

Results at Anfield have been poor in recent years

Even though David Moyes’ side should be confident going into the game on Sunday, West Ham’s recent record on Merseyside isn’t great.

They haven’t even picked up a point away at Liverpool since they won there all the way back in 2015, when goals from Manuel Lanzini, Mark Noble and Diafra Sakho secured a famous 3-0 victory.

Nobody is expecting a similar result this weekend but there is no doubt that the Irons do have the ability in their squad to take something from the match.
