West Ham Add Trio Of Managers To Shortlist Alongside Tuchel As They Consider Moyes Replacements

West Ham will consider appointing Fulham boss Marco Silva, Lille manager Paulo Fonseca and Feyenoord head coach Arne Slot if David Moyes leaves at the end of the season, according to GiveMeSport.

Technical Director Tim Steidten is said to have added the trio to a shortlist of candidates that also includes former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel.

Moyes’ future at the London Stadium remains up in the air. The Scot confirmed last week that he had been offered a new contract by the Hammers.

However, despite his current deal expiring in June, he has yet to decide whether he will stay at the club. Reports suggest that he is unhappy that responsibilities for transfers could be taken away from him.

Why are West Ham interested in Silva, Fonseca and Slot?

The Irons are keen on appointing a replacement for Moyes who can play a more attractive brand of football. Silva has shown during his time at Fulham that he is an attack-minded coach.

In his first season at Craven Cottage, his team scored 106 goals in 46 games as they were promoted from the Championship. The Cottagers then went on to finish midtable in the Premier League last campaign.

Fonseca, meanwhile, has had spells at Porto, Braga, Shakhtar Donetsk, Roma and Lille (where he has been managing since 2022). Slot is also an attractive choice, having beaten Dutch heavyweights Ajax and PSV Eindhoven to the Eredivisie title in 2023.

Is Tuchel a realistic alternative?

Some reports have quickly dismissed the chances of West Ham appointing the current Bayern Munich head coach. However, he will be a free agent this summer, and he is believed to have a very good relationship with Steidten.

Whether that will be enough for Tuchel to consider the Hammers’ job, it remains to be seen. Of course, any pursuit of the German will still depend on whether Moyes actually leaves.
