Report Rates Chances Of Jose Mourinho “Managing West Ham” If Moyes Were To Be Sacked

Former Chelsea and Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho won’t be in contention to replace David Moyes if West Ham decide to dispense with the Scot’s services, according to Claret & Hugh.

The website quotes an insider source that says Mourinho’s “difficult” personality, combined with his poor performance in his roles at Tottenham and Roma, would make his appointment at the London Stadium a non-starter:

“He has not been good in his last two jobs and can prove difficult there’s zero chance of him managing West Ham United.”

Mourinho’s win % has been on the decline over the past decade. He was at the peak of his success at Real Madrid, winning 71.91% of his 178 matches in charge.

However, his second spell at Chelsea was not as successful. Despite securing a league title, he won just 58.82% of his games, and he had an almost identical percentage at Manchester United (58.33%). At Spurs and Roma, he has barely got above the 50% mark.

Is Moyes in danger of losing his job at West Ham?

The bookmakers currently have very long odds on the Hammers sacking their current head coach. Some have him as far out as 66/1 to be the next Premier League manager fired.

However, there has been some discontent with recent performances. The defeat to Aston Villa last weekend has left West Ham sitting in 9th place after 9 games, having picked up 14 points. It’s an improvement on last season but it’s not much to write home about.

The London club do, however, remain top of their Europa League group, but the loss to Olympiakos midweek was rather disappointing. There are mitigating circumstances for the display, with some fringe players being brought into the starting eleven, but qualification for the knockout stage has been thrown wide open, with just 2 points separating the top three teams.
