West Ham Star Joins Arsenal, United And Liverpool Players On PL Goal Of The Month Shortlist

West Ham left-back Emerson Palmieri has been nominated for the Premier League Goal of the Month award.

The Italian international’s spectacular long-range strike during the 4-2 win over Brentford has been included among an eight goal shortlist for the prize.

Remarkably, Emerson’s goal was the first he had scored in any competition this season, and it was an important one too as he helped the Hammers seal their first win in any competition this calendar year.

The fullback took one touch to set up his shot before unleashing a piledriver with his trusty left foot into the top right-hand corner of Mark Flekken’s goal.

Who else has been nominated for February?

Emerson will face stiff competition for the award. Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez is a strong candidate after scoring with a lob against Brentford.

Ex-West Ham captain Declan Rice is also in the running for his long-range effort for Arsenal against his former club, while Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo is recognised for his superb individual goal that sealed a last-gasp 4-3 win over Wolves.

Crystal Palace pair Jordan Ayew & Jefferson Lerma, Tottenham’s Richarlison and Brighton’s Joao Pedro are the other contenders for February.

How do West Ham fans nominate Emerson?

Supporters can head over to the Premier League’s official website here and make their vote count. Entries close at 12:00 PM GMT on Monday 4 March.

Votes from fans are then combined with selections from the Premier League’s panel of experts to decide the winner. We will find out at some point next week whether Emerson has won the award.

Another West Ham player has been nominated for a different accolade. Goalkeeper Alphonse Areola is up for Save of the Month.

The Frenchman made an outstanding save to prevent Leandro Trossard from scoring during the Hammers’ 6-0 defeat at the London Stadium a couple of weeks ago.
