West Ham defender Emerson Palmieri put in an outstanding performance as the Hammers came from behind to beat London rivals Tottenham on Thursday evening.
The former Chelsea star has been one of the club’s most consistent players this season, having started the campaign as first choice left-back ahead of Aaron Cresswell.
After impressing at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, fans on X were quick to pay tribute to Emerson and the form he has shown in recent months:

He was utterly brilliant. Seems incredible it took him most of last season to get in the first team.
Now the first name on the team sheet. Utterly brilliant.

Emerson is at his peak
It’s fair to say that the Italian international had a rather mixed first season at West Ham, with his defending being somewhat questionable at times.
David Moyes rotated him with Cresswell for the most part, with both getting their fair share of game time. However, Emerson has very much established himself as the manager’s favoured option on the left-hand side of defence since August.
The 29-year-old has looked solid in all aspects of his game, and he seems to be in the prime of his career at the moment.
West Ham’s results have picked up after a tough period
Emerson’s team are now unbeaten since the loss to Brentford at the start of last month, and the pressure on Moyes and the team has eased significantly.
The Irons do have some tricky fixtures to come over Christmas (Liverpool away in the Carabao Cup, Manchester United at home, and Arsenal away) but their recent form means they can be confident of getting some good results heading into those matches.
