Ex-West Ham assistant manager Mark Warburton says that David Moyes is “angry” about his treatment from supporters.

Speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast, the former Rangers and QPR head coach said that Moyes is considering his options amid speculation about his future:

“I think David Moyes is angry and in my opinion, he has every right to be when you look at how much he has given the club.”

“He has every right to be angry and if he is to leave West Ham, then I hope it is of his own volition.”

Warburton spent last season working alongside Moyes in the Hammers’ dugout so he may well have some inside knowledge about the current situation.

What has Moyes said about his future at West Ham?

The Irons boss confirmed in his pre-match press conference on Friday that he has been offered a new contract by the club. His current deal expires in June but Moyes says he has yet to decide whether he wants to stay at the London Stadium:

“There’s a contract there for me. I’m the one who’s deciding at the moment that I want to wait, I want to wait until the end of the season.”

“I want to make sure everything’s correct and that first and foremost we concentrate on this season and do the job. I’ve really enjoyed my four years here and one way or the other I’ll make sure I see my contract out.”

Who are the leading candidates to replace Moyes if he leaves?

There has been speculation that technical director Tim Steidten would like to appoint Bayern Munich head coach Thomas Tuchel as Moyes’ successor. However, it is believed that the German wouldn’t be interested in the job.

The alternatives include the likes of former Chelsea manager Graham Potter, ex-Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui and former Nottingham Forest coach Steve Cooper.
