Tim Steidten Issues Surprise Verdict On David Moyes That Raises More Questions About West Ham Boss’s Future

West Ham technical director Tim Steidten says he has a good working relationship with manager David Moyes.

There has been speculation that there is a rift between the pair following the German’s arrival last year but, speaking to the German Press Agency, Steidten said:

“I am euphoric at every game and every training session because I feel that I am in the right place, in the right league. I wanted to have overall responsibility. I wanted to take control myself. It was a stark change for all three (owner David Sullivan, Moyes and himself).”

“David Moyes – I think – noticed through my transfers that my work was important. Conversely, I learned an incredible amount from him when it comes to perspectives on football.”

Why is Moyes holding out on signing a new contract?

If the manager is happy with Steidten’s work as the German claims, it leads to more questions as to why Moyes hasn’t put pen to paper on an extension.

The Scot’s current deal expires this summer but he has gone on record to say that he won’t make a decision on his future before the end of the season. It was suggested that he wasn’t happy ceding control to Steidten on transfers but that doesn’t appear to be the case.

Where does this leave West Ham and the prospect of a new manager arriving at the club?

It has been reported that Steidten is a close friend of Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel. With the former Chelsea manager set to leave his post in May, there have been rumours that the pair could be reunited at the London Stadium.

Whether there is any truth to those rumours, it remains to be seen, but it seems as if Steidten is perfectly happy to continue working with Moyes if the 60-year-old opts to stay with the Hammers.
