Sky Sports Reporter Claims “Two Games” Could Decide David Moyes’ Future At West Ham

David Moyes will be in a “very strong position” to keep his job at West Ham if he manages to beat Bayer Leverkusen over two legs in the Europa League, according to Sky Sports News reporter Michael Bridge.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Bridge said that the Scot’s future at the London Stadium could be decided on whether the Hammers can get past the Bundesliga leaders:

“It could be a case of wait and see over the next few weeks and months when it comes to David Moyes’ future, but let’s see how they get on against Bayer Leverkusen.”

“Leverkusen are probably one of the best teams to watch in Europe this season, but if West Ham can get through over those two games, I really do think it puts David Moyes in a very, very strong position.”

Moyes claims he already has a contract offer

Last month, the West Ham manager confirmed that he had received a proposal from the board to extend his stay at the club beyond the end of the season.

Despite Bridge’s remarks, it doesn’t seem likely that the Leverkusen fixtures will have that much bearing on whether Moyes remains in charge.

Who could succeed Moyes if he does leave West Ham?

There is plenty of speculation about who could replace the Hammers boss. That is due to the fact that Moyes may unilaterally decide to move on from the club if he doesn’t feel he is getting the necessary support.

Bayern Munich’s Thomas Tuchel, former Chelsea boss Graham Potter, ex-Wolves head coach Julen Lopetegui and ex-Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper have all been touted as potential candidates.

Tuchel, in particular, has been suggested because he has close ties with technical director Tim Steidten, but there is some doubt over whether the German would accept the role. A lot, though, still depends on what Moyes decides to do.
