“Seen As A One Off” – Journalist Makes Arsenal Claim As New Update On West Ham Manager Situation Emerges

West Ham are expected to hand manager David Moyes a contract extension, according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

Writing on his Patreon, Nixon said that the Hammers’ humiliating 6-0 home defeat to Arsenal won’t have any bearing on whether Moyes stays at the London Stadium:

“West Ham are still advancing with contract talks about a new deal for David Moyes despite the thrashing by Arsenal”

“Moyes is well down the line with agreeing a longer stay with the club and the Gunners mauling is seen as a one-off.”

Will West Ham’s stance change?

It should be pointed out that supporters are not simply unhappy about the loss to the Gunners. The London club have not won in any competition this calendar year.

There was no reaction following the Arsenal defeat either, with another poor performance in the 2-0 loss to relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest at the weekend.

With the Irons in such bad form, many feel that Moyes‘ contract should not be renewed beyond the end of the season. It is not now known whether the board will adjust their position if results continue on their current trajectory.

A number of managers have been linked with replacing Moyes

At least five coaches have been mentioned as potential replacements for Moyes over the past week or so. Ex-Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui, former Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper and ex-Eintracht Frankfurt head coach Oliver Glasner are said to be in the mix.

However, two former Chelsea managers are expected to be the frontrunners. Graham Potter, who has been out of work since being sacked by the Blues last April, and Thomas Tuchel, who is going through a difficult spell at Bayern Munich, could also be added to the shortlist.

If Nixon’s information is accurate, though, it seems as if Moyes will stay in charge at West Ham for the foreseeable future.
