West Ham are interested in signing Getafe centre-back Djene, according to the Daily Express. Leicester City are said to be considering the Togo international as a replacement for Harry Maguire, but the Hammers are believed to be ready to make their move as well.
The 27-year-old, who has also been linked with Arsenal in recent months, has a £31m release clause. That figure would likely prove too steep for West Ham, but Getafe could agree to a cut-price deal.
The La Liga side are reportedly willing to sell up for £18m, plus add-ons, which could be closer to the Irons’ price range. Pedro Obiang’s £8m departure to Sassuolo has freed up some funds but they may have to sell more players to finance a deal.
West Ham are believed to be prepared to offload either Winston Reid or Angelo Ogbonna, but with the transfer deadline fast approaching, there isn’t a great deal of time for these transfers to be finalised.
