Ex-Chelsea Manager ‘High’ On West Ham’s 4 Man Shortlist As Club Consider Moyes Replacements

Graham Potter is expected to be “high” on the list of potential replacements if West Ham decide to sack David Moyes, according to The Telegraph.

The newspaper claims Moyes is under massive pressure after a recent run of poor results, which includes a heavy 6-0 home defeat to Arsenal.

Potter has not managed since being sacked by Chelsea last April. The ex-Brighton head coach is highly rated by some at West Ham, with the requirement to play attractive football firmly on the agenda after the safety-first approach adopted by Moyes.

Some may doubt Potter’s ability following his time at Stamford Bridge. He lasted only seven months in the job but his failure has been put into context somewhat by the struggles that his successors, Frank Lampard and Mauricio Pochettino, have had at Stamford Bridge.

Are West Ham looking at other managers?

The Telegraph believe that ex-Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui and former Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper will also come under consideration.

They also mention ex-Eintracht Frankfurt coach Oliver Glasner but the Austrian is widely expected to replace Roy Hodgson at Crystal Palace.

Can Moyes still turn things around?

It is believed that West Ham’s board want to see a noticeable improvement in the team’s performances in upcoming games.

The Irons will take on Nottingham Forest, Brentford, Everton and Burnley in their next four matches; all of whom are struggling for form at the moment.

If Moyes does manage to get results against these teams then the pressure on him will ease somewhat. His future beyond the end of the season, though, remains in doubt.

Even recently, there were discussions about extending the Scot’s contract that expires in June but that has now been put on the back burner as the club wait and see whether he can improve the club’s fortunes.
