West Ham Make Tottenham Midfield Enforcer A Top January Transfer Target

West Ham are targeting Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama in the January transfer window, according to the Football Insider.

The Kenyan international has been a bit-part player over the last year following a serious knee injury he picked up at the beginning of last season.

Wanyama was recruited from Southampton for £11m in July 2016 and was an integral figure in Spurs’ midfield as the London club finished second in the league behind Chelsea during the 2016/17 campaign.

However, this season, despite being fit, he has struggled for regular game time under manager Mauricio Pochettino. He has played just 56 minutes in total in the Premier League with his only starts coming in cup competitions.

Wanyama was given a rare start when he was named in the starting lineup for the 4-2 defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League earlier this month. He was substituted before the hour mark.

The 27-year-old also started the penalty shootout win against Watford in the last round of the Carabao Cup, and could actually start against the Hammers in the same competition this evening.
