West Ham have made an enquiry about signing PAOK Salonika striker Chuba Akpom, according to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein. The Hammers do, though, have a battle on their hands to sign the 24-year-old.
French club Reims are also after the former Arsenal academy graduate, along with Bundesliga side Cologne. However, the Hammers do have an advantage with the forward keen on a return to the UK.
Akpom was a target for Manuel Pellegrini’s side in the summer, but the striker opted to remain in Greece. Since then, though, he has fallen out of the club’s first-team plans.
The former England Under 21 international has started just three league games this season and has managed just three goals in 15 appearances.
Akpom’s lack of game time could lead to him leaving during the January transfer window, with West Ham keen to snap him up due to their lack of forward options in the squad.
