West Ham Make Enquiry For 18M Rated Defender But Face Battle With Serie A Giants

West Ham and AC Milan have both made enquiries about Barcelona defender Junior Firpo, according to reports in the English media.

The Dominican defender is believed to be someone that the Hammers would like to sign this month but they have made it clear that he won’t be guaranteed a place in the starting eleven due to Aaron Cresswell’s recent form.

Firpo has struggled to get regular game time at the Camp Nou after having spent most of the last eighteen months on the bench following his €18m move from Real Betis.

Even so, Barca are reluctant to let the 24-year-old go without finding a replacement first, although it’s likely they will allow him to leave for the right price due to their current financial situation.

Milan are said to be more interested in a loan move, which would not interest the Catalan club due to their money troubles, so it does appear West Ham are in the driving seat to sign him.
