West Ham looking to secure most important deal of the summer

West Ham have caught the headlines for a number of reasons this summer but fans can certainly be excited by the movement made in the transfer market, as Pablo Zabaleta, Joe Hart, Javier Hernandez and Marko Arnautovic are all solid additions.

The Hammers remain active in the market, as they pursue a club-record deal for William Carvalho, but their most important piece of business this summer could be set to occur a lot closer to home and it will provide a significant boost.

After securing the future of Michail Antonio at the back-end of last season, fending off reported interest in his services in the process, West Ham are now reportedly looking to make a similar statement of intent with Manuel Lanzini.

The Argentine ace has become a huge part of Slaven Bilic’s side over the past few seasons and his performances have not gone unnoticed, with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool heavily linked with his signature as they seek a potential replacement for Philippe Coutinho.

West Ham are determined not to sell though and are ready to reward their starlet with a new four-year deal, which fans can expect to be signed as the reports on Lanzini’s situation state the player is very happy with life in East London.

Bilic himself recently addressed the speculation on Lanzini’s future, as he said:

““Manu is very happy here. He feels at home – he feels wanted. You can feel it, you can see it. You don’t have to speak to the player but if you do speak to him, you can see how he is happy here.”

“He broke into the Argentine national team. So he knows if he plays here, if he has a good season for West Ham, he has a chance to improve, to sign a better contract for West Ham and play for Argentina.”

With a World Cup next summer, where Lanzini may feature for Argentina, West Ham may find it difficult to fend off the interest in the midfielder’s services but a new deal hands them a solid negotiating position.
