West Ham Look To Hijack Flamengo’s £18.6m Move For Brazilian Goal Machine

West Ham are looking to hijack Flamengo’s deal for Gabriel Barbosa, according to FCInternews.it. The Italian website reports that Flamengo have a €22m (£18.6m) agreement with Inter to sign the striker but the player is hesitating on the move.

Barbosa is currently still on loan with the Brazilian club and speaking about the forward’s future, Flamengo president Rodolfo Landim confirmed that there will be more talks with the player after the team end their participation in the Club World Cup:

“Flamengo have already gone far enough in the negotiations with Inter and we have a preliminary agreement on the value of the player. We needed to talk to him, and we started the conversation, but right now there’s no agreement.”

“We decided to talk again at the end of the season and the end of the season will now end with the Club World Cup.”

The Brazilian, nicknamed ‘Gabigol’ has been in fantastic form this campaign, having scored 34 goals and provided 11 assists in 41 appearances, but the striker has hinted he would like to return to Europe.

The likes of Crystal Palace, Schalke and Real Vallodolid are all believed to be interested in the 23-year-old but it is the Hammers’ interest which is the strongest. It appears we will have to wait until after the Club World Cup to find out the player’s final decision.
