West Ham Linked With Surprise Loan Swoop For £60m Chelsea Ace

West Ham are interested in signing Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata on loan in the January transfer window, according to reports.

The Spaniard has struggled for form since arriving in England from Real Madrid in a deal said to be worth £60m.

Morata did, however, start the season as Maurizio Sarri’s number one striker, but was relegated to bench duty for the club’s last Premier League match against Cardiff City last Saturday.

The Hammers are reportedly one of four clubs watching the 25-year-old’s situation at Stamford Bridge, with AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid also said to be interested.

Much may depend on whether Morata can retain a regular first-team place in the Premier League over the coming months. Olivier Giroud has performed well when called upon and has linked up particularly well with Eden Hazard.

The Frenchman is certainly doing all he can to make his case to be the club’s first choice number nine, and the Spanish international will need to improve his goal return if he is to keep his place in the starting eleven.
