West Ham Line Up Swoop For £15m Rated German International As Potential Rice Replacement

West Ham are weighing up a move for RB Leipzig midfielder Diego Demme, according to reports in the English media.

The German international is reportedly valued at £15million and is said to be one option that manager Manuel Pellegrini is considering as a potential replacement for Declan Rice.

The 19-year-old has yet to come to an agreement with the Hammers over a new contract. His current deal expires in 2020 and is said to be interesting the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham.

Demme is seven years Rice’s senior at 26 years of age, but he has one senior cap for Germany, coming in a World Cup qualifier against San Marino last year.

He has been ever-present for Leipzig this campaign, playing at the base of the Bundesliga club’s midfield, starting all ten of their league games, including the 3-0 win over Hertha Berlin on Saturday.

As a defensive midfielder, he doesn’t offer much threat in the attacking third, with no goals this season and one solitary assist in the 3-1 Europa League win over Rosenborg last month.
