West Ham Lead United In Pursuit Of 21.5M Rated Serbian Stopper

West Ham are the team most serious about making a bid for Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic, according to reports in the Italian media.

The Serbian international was a target for the Hammers last summer but the centre-back stayed with his current club after an agreement couldn’t be reached on the transfer fee.

Milenkovic’s contract has now, though, run down into its final twelve months and, with the 23-year-old having not signed an extension, he could be offloaded for around €25m (£21.5m).

Manchester United and AC Milan are also reportedly keen on the Serbian, but the Hammers appear to be the team most willing to make a formal bid for the player.

It remains to be seen whether Milenkovic would be interested in a move to the London Stadium, but it will be hoped that West Ham’s qualification for the Europa League will help persuade the centre-half into joining the club.
