West Ham Joined By PL Rival In Battle To Sign 22 Cap Brazilian International

West Ham and Newcastle are both interested in signing Juventus midfielder Arthur, according to reports in the Italian media.

The Brazilian, who has been capped 22 times by his country, is not in Juve’s plans and he could be allowed to leave before the transfer window closes later this month.

Arthur has been close to a switch to the Premier League before, having been subject to a loan bid from Arsenal back in January, but the Gunners have not revived their interest this summer.

Instead, the 26-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Valencia, although the La Liga club’s manager Gennaro Gattuso has confirmed in recent days that they cannot afford to sign him.

It has left the door open for the likes of West Ham to swoop in. The Hammers have been scouring the market for a new midfielder, but attempts to sign the likes of Napoli’s Piotr Zielinski and Sporting Lisbon’s Matheus Nunes have not been successful. It remains to be seen whether they will have better luck with Arthur.
