West Ham Join Spurs In Chase For Championship Playmaker With £45m Buyout Clause

West Ham are one of three Premier League teams interested in Aston Villa attacking midfielder Jack Grealish, according to reports in the UK.

Tottenham, who tried to sign the 23-year-old last summer, and Bournemouth are also keen on recruiting the playmaker.

Grealish only signed a new contract at Villa Park in September, but the new deal apparently includes a £45million buyout fee.

Whether the Hammers would consider triggering the clause, it is isn’t known, but Villa’s willingness to sell for below that amount may depend on whether they are playing in the Championship next season.

Dean Smith’s side are currently sixth in the table, sitting in the last playoff place, but there are five times below them within three points.

With parachute payments set to end this campaign, Villa are likely to cut back on resources if they stay in the Championship.

Despite now being owned by two billionaires, EFL Financial Fairplay rules could lead Villa to tighten the purse strings, but whether that would lead to Grealish being sold, it remains to be seen.
