West Ham are one of three teams keen on snapping up AZ Alkmaar captain Teun Koopmeiners, according to Calciomercato.com.
The Italian website reports that the Hammers will join AC Milan and Everton in the battle for the 22-year-old, who has had a standout season in the Eredivisie.
Before the campaign was cancelled by Dutch authorities, Koopmeiners has racked up 16 goals in 42 appearances for AZ.
Considering he is a holding midfielder and has played a number of matches as a centre-half this season, the numbers are impressive, to say the least.
However, separate reports in the UK claim that Everton may well be leading the race for Koopmeiners. The Toffees’ director of football Marcel Brands has been tracking the player and is said to be looking to seal a £12m transfer.
It is questionable whether West Ham would be looking to invest that much in the Dutchman, considering the current financial climate.
