West Ham Join Host Of PL Clubs Chasing Free Transfer Deal For Austrian Midfield Enforcer

West Ham are interested in Hoffenheim midfielder Florian Grillitsch, according to reports in the English media.

The Austrian international is expected to leave his current club on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Due to his availability, Grillitsch is also being looked at by a number of other Premier League teams, including the likes of Arsenal, Newcastle, Leeds and Everton.

Leeds’s interest does actually add another twist to the story. They are seeking a replacement for Kalvin Phillips so it suggests that the England international could be available this summer.

Considering the Hammers pursued Phillips during the January transfer window, there could be a situation where they lose out on Grillitsch but manage to secure another key transfer target instead.

That’s merely speculation at this stage, though. The fact that Grillitsch is available for nothing does make it a much more realistic transfer for David Moyes’ team, so we shall see if they press ahead with the move.
