West Ham ‘In Pole Position’ To Sign Senegalese Poacher With 9 Goals in 14 Games This Season

West Ham are in “pole position” to sign Stade de Reims striker Boulaye Dia, according to 90min.com. The website reports that the Hammers are leading the battle for the Senegalese international, who is also on the radar of other Premier League teams.

Newcastle, Sheffield United and West Brom are all believed to have scouted the 24-year-old, while Arsenal and Everton have been mentioned as possible suitors in recent weeks.

Dia has been in impressive form this season, having racked up nine goals in 14 appearances for Reims in Ligue One.  With French clubs expected to sell their players in January due to the collapse of a TV deal, he could also be available relatively cheaply.

West Ham need cover up front, with Michail Antonio having struggled with injuries this campaign and Sebastien Haller being the only other recognised striker in the squad. It remains to be seen, though, whether Dia will end up at the London Stadium when the transfer window opens next month.
