West Ham Have ‘Pre Contract’ With £10m Rated River Plate Star Who Will Sign In The Summer Barring One ‘Obstacle’

West Ham are poised to sign River Plate right-back Gonzalo Montiel this summer, according to Estadio Deportivo.

The Spanish newspaper claim that the Hammers have a “pre-contract” to sign the 23-year-old for around €11m (£10m) at the end of the season.

Montiel was the subject of a loan offer from the London club in January, but the bid was rejected by the club’s manager Marcelo Gallardo.

The Irons were unable to secure a permanent transfer at the time due to Financial Fairplay restrictions but they have reportedly secured an agreement so he will sign when the transfer window reopens.

Estadio Deportivo report that Montiel has already agreed to commit to a four or five-year contract with the Hammers, but there is still one “obstacle” to the move going ahead.

A work permit will be needed and as the Argentine only has four senior caps for his country, the club may need special dispensation from the Home Office to get the deal over the line.
