West Ham Have £6.5m Offer Turned Down For Chilean Midfield Enforcer

Besiktas have rejected a £6.5m offer from West Ham for midfielder Gary Medel, according to the Sun.

Reports in Turkey have suggested that Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini is keen to recruit his fellow countryman in January to strengthen his options in the centre of midfield.

West Ham are said to be seeking to take some of the workload off Declan Rice with the 19-year-old having started 14 consecutive league games.

With Carlos Sanchez sidelined with a knee injury for the majority of the season, Medel is reportedly seen as an ideal replacement. The Chilean has spent the last 18 months with Besiktas but the Turkish club are suffering from financial difficulties and are prepared to sell at the right price.

Still, it seems the Super Lig side are holding out for more money than the Hammers are currently offering for the former Cardiff City player. Whether they will up their bid, it remains to be seen.
