West Ham Handed Massive Boost In Attempts To Land 42M Rated Rice Replacement

West Ham could snap up Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips on an initial loan deal, according to 90min.com.

The former Leeds player is weighing up whether to leave the Premier League champions just a year after making the £42m switch to the Etihad. He is said to be concerned that his lack of minutes will impact his selection chances for England.

City are reluctant to sell Phillips for below the figure they paid for him last summer so it has been suggested that they could agree to a loan, with an option to buy at the end of next season.

It is believed that the 27-year-old is being looked at as a potential replacement for captain Declan Rice. Although the pair play alongside each other at international level, manager David Moyes feels that the City player has similar characteristics.

Any move for Phillips is, therefore, likely to be dependent on Rice’s future. Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing the midfielder when the transfer window reopens.
