REPORT: West Ham United Interested In Former Liverpool Striker Regarding Transfer

West Ham United have reportedly been linked with a transfer move for former Liverpool striker Divock Origi, according to Italian sports media outlet MilanNews24.

Currently, Origi and his agent are ‘reflecting’ on a potential move to the London Stadium – regardless, an official approach has yet to be made by the club.

Last season, Origi endured a tough season at AC Milan. He made 17 appearances for the Italian giants, but could only conjure up a grand total of two Serie A goals.

Who else, besides West Ham United, are interested in a move for Divock Origi?

Back in April, Origi was the subject of interest from four Premier League clubs – including West Ham, according to a report from The Sun.

Alongside the Irons, Leeds United, Crystal Palace and Everton were all thought to be interested in a move for the 28-year-old Belgian hitman.

Despite this, none of these other three clubs have been linked with a transfer for Origi in recent weeks. This doesn’t put them out of the race, but it should make West Ham the leading candidates to bring him on board.

Would Divock Origi be a good signing for the Hammers?

Divock Origi is a strange footballer. He has been known to miss gilt-edged chances that often look more difficult to spurn than score – but also, he has netted some monumental goals in the past.

Perhaps most notably, he scored a brace in Liverpool’s legendary 4-0 win over Barcelona in the 2018/2019 Champions League – the Reds would go on to beat Tottenham Hotspur in the final, where he also scored the winning goal.

As such, Origi could add a certain ‘x-factor’ to West Ham’s attacking ranks. He is similar in many ways to the talismanic Michail Antonio – as the 33-year-old reaches the twilight of his career, Origi could be a brilliant replacement for him in the Irons’ squad.

While he isn’t a natural goalscorer, he still has a lot to offer for any team he turns out for. His tireless running, clever movement and physical presence in the box make him a real handful for even the tightest of defences to deal with.
