West Ham ‘Following’ Ecuadorian Teenage Sensation After Impressive Recent Form

West Ham are one of a number of English clubs “following” the progress of Sporting Lisbon winger Gonzalo Plata, according to Ecuagoal.com.

The website claims that the Hammers have taken a keen interest in the Ecuadorian after the teenager broke into Sporting’s first team back at the start of the year.

Plata was handed his first league start by manager Silas last month, scoring and providing an assist in the 2-0 win over Boavista.

Before joining Sporting from Ecuadorian outfit Independiente in January last year, he had also been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona.

After impressing following his first-team breakthrough, it appears another transfer could well be on the cards for Plata very soon if reports are to be believed.

West Ham are reportedly moving towards a policy of signing younger players and the Irons already have a long track record of bringing in youngsters from Portugal, such as the likes of Goncalo Cardoso and Xande Silva.
