West Ham fight Liverpool and Arsenal for Mario Gotze

West Ham United are reportedly one of four Premier League clubs interested in signing Mario Gotze this summer.

The Hammers are said to be joined in the race by Arsenal, Everton and Liverpool, all of whom could snap up the talented midfielder for a cut-price.

Gotze set the world alight when he scored the winner for Germany in the World Cup final 4 years ago, but things haven’t gone so smoothly for him since – having fallen down in the pecking order at Bayern Munich before being shipped back to Borussia Dortmund where he currently resides.

Sky Sports News report that Marseille and Valencia are also interested in signing the 26-year old, and that Dortmund will want to recoup as much of the £22m they paid Bayern.

The player’s wages may be a potential stumbling block for the Hammers, but if they can sign the German for around £20m then it would be a stellar signing for the club.

Gotze has two years left on his contract at Dortmund and made 23 appearances in the Bundesliga for them last season, chipping in with two goals and four assists.

It is uncertain whether or not Gotze would force a move away from Germany, but it would be a mouth watering signing for the Hammers nonetheless.
