West Ham fans torn over links with Stoke City superstar

West Ham fans are torn over links with Stoke City star Xherdan Shaqiri.

The Swiss international is set to leave the Potters after their relegation from the Premier League.

A host of top flight clubs have already touted their interest in the former Inter Milan and Bayern Munich star, including both Everton and West Ham.

The Hammers want Shaqiri to bolster their attacking options after a disappointing season in front of goal and yet another fight with relegation.



Manager David Moyes also hopes the 26-year-old can re-ignite his partnership with former Stoke City team-mate Marko Arnautovic – who joined the Hammers last summer.

Arnautovic has been the club’s stand out player this season, and West Ham hope signing Shaqiri can prove just as fruitful.

Shaqiri is Stoke’s top scorer this season having managed eight goals, and has also produced six assists for his team-mates.

But the winger has admitted finding life at bet365 difficult this term alongside players he controversially deemed sub-standard, all but confirming he will leave at the end of the season.

“Here at Stoke I cannot exert too much influence, simply because there is a lack of quality around me,” he said earlier in the year.

“I cannot just down tools but it would take something extreme in the transfer market for Stoke to revive my enthusiasm this summer.”
