West Ham Eyeing January Deal For £22m Rated Brazilian Marksman

West Ham are keeping tabs on Inter Milan striker Gabriel Barbosa, according to FCInternews.it. The Italian website reports that the Hammers may compete with Flamengo for the 23-year-old’s signature.

The forward is currently on loan with the Brazilian club, having scored 22 goals in 25 appearances this season, but they are having trouble meeting the Nerazzurri’s €25m (£22m) asking price to sign him on a permanent basis.

This could leave the door open for West Ham to swoop in. The Irons allowed Javier Hernandez to leave for Sevilla at the start of the month, and currently have just two fit out-and-out strikers in Sebastien Haller and Albian Ajeti.

Barbosa, better known by his nickname “Gabigol”, was also linked with a move to the London Stadium earlier this year, but a bid in the January transfer window will be possible. The Brazilian’s loan deal with Flamengo expires at the end of December when the Brazilian season finishes.
